'Ngetwa 3' herbal medicine, Tanzania, 2005

Ngweta 3 is a herbal medicine mass produced in Tanzania. It is sold as a ‘treatment for many diseases’ including diabetes and malaria. The man pictured on the front is supposedly the mganga (healer) who prepared the treatment. Such products are highly popular and very profitable. The email address of his company, known as Traditional Medical Research, is on the bottom of the pack. The foil packaging gives the medicine a long shelf life.
