Intelligence was measured using the Passalong Test. It was a component of W. P. Alexander’s Performance scale. This allocated children aged 11 to different types of secondary school. The child moved the blocks around a tray to match a predetermined design. The test was devised in 1937. It was published by the University of London Press the same year.
